Christmas Eve 2009

January 6, 2010

Although this post is so late, I didn’t want to let this memory pass by.   This past Christmas Eve, my family had fun making silly creations out of graham crackers and candy.

Foods that Help Fight Illness

October 16, 2009

My sister shared some information from a pamplet she received in the mail listing suggested foods that help the body fight illness. I thought it would be beneficial to others too.

The perfect PH level for humans is 7.36-7.41. When your diet includes higher amounts of fat, sugar, and animal protein your body becomes more acidic unlike when eating alkaline-forming foods.

Vision Declining

September 11, 2009

Aging is such a drag. I recently noticed that if I am sitting at the back of the church, the song numbers, and the words on the Sunday school blackboard are blurry. I am determined to prolong getting glasses as loooooooooong as possible! I’ve also wondered about getting lasik surgery, but I am scared to.

Children with Severe Allergies

August 25, 2009

This weekend I read about a little girl named Sophie that was born with severe allergies to peanut butter, milk, eggs, wheat, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. I have always been of the opinion that allergies are developed over time, but Sophie’s case discounts that theory.

Out of necessity, Sophie’s mother, Emily, started modifying and making up recipes that Sophie could eat. When Emily met other children with allergies who ate only a few foods because their parents didn’t know there were other choices, she would share her recipes with them. She later decided to publish a cookbook titled Sophie-Safe Cooking.
