The Silky Blanket Story
|
A family friend made me a blanket made of peach-colored silk 29 years ago. It was a wedding present, and after a few years and a few kids the blanket was officially dubbed “the silky blanket”. My oldest son Ben, always an opportunist, decided to claim the blanket as his own and was successful in defending the item via “Big Brother” brute force for years. Little did I know however, that my next son, Brogan, had blanket mutiny in mind and was counting down the days until Ben’s “coming-of-age” and inevitable departure from our home. When Ben left at the age of 18 to work for a few months, Brogan claimed the blanket but when Ben returned the fight that ensued was tremendous! Ben again defended his “blanket rights” but Brogan was quick to steal it back and hide it. He declared that if he couldn’t have it then nobody could. Not long afterward, when Ben left home again, Brogan was finally safe to bring the silky treasure out and claim it as his own. Two years later, my third son, Shawn, announced that the only present he wanted for Christmas was a silky blanket. (What is it with my sons and silky blankets?) I shopped around town and via the Internet but couldn’t find the beloved silky blankets. Later on however, while searching at a fabric store I found some Tricot silk material and was informed by a sales clerk that Tricot is commonly used to make lingerie—no wonder my sons were so enthusiastic! I bought the material, and my daughter’s friend made Shawn a silky blanket. Now he takes it with him even when he sleeps at a friend’s house. He calls it his lingerie blanket and all his friends are naturally green with envy. The tradition of silky blanket gifts continued when I recently made my first granddaughter a silky blanket. It was then that I realized other families might enjoy the silky blanket tradition too, so I decided to make silky blankets for babies. Here we are at www.mamacrane.com/silky-blankets providing handmade silky baby blankets! Soft, smooth and silky; these are the one type of blanket that provide a deep downlike comfort for your baby. I hope your kids enjoy them as much as mine. Try a silky blanket! -Mama Crane Heck Yes I Want One! |

I brought home a Silky Blanket by Mama Crane for my four year old son.
He snuggles up in his blanket on the way to and from preschool to keep himself warm and comfy.
At night time he loves to cuddle up with it as I read him a story as he falls off to sleep.
He loves his new blankie and he wants nothing to do with his old blankets that aren’t as soft.
Such cute colors! The tricot is perfect for summer since it stays cool to the touch. Thank you Mama Crane!
We recieved a silky blanket as a gift for our new little one and we love it! The colors are great and my boys love the feel of it! Thank you!
